Why can't atheists accept the USA is a Christian nation?

why cant christians just accept the fact that their sad pathetic outdated religion is dying a slow painful death/ Atheism is the inevitable result of the pursuit for answers to questions. Religion teaches adults that its OK to accept not knowing, something NO parent in their right mind would teach a child.
