Why does the West and Western media, always have to portray Middle Easterners in a bad light?

Specifically Arabs and Iranians/Persians. They call and portray us as smelly, hairy, scrawny, aggressive, violent, poorly endowed people, and are always making fun of us in media, when all these things are clearly false. Meanwhile other races and religions are glorified in the media, not that there's anything wrong with that but why shun others?
